Boys' Bathroom Makeover with the Bagster bag (and a GIVEAWAY)

A few weeks ago I mentioned I'd teamed up with Waste Management to makeover a space and use the Bagster bag.

I picked the boys' bathroom, since I'd never really given it any love and it had a really nasty toilet in it.  Here's the boys' bathroom before - with a list of things I wanted to change.

Well, I loaded up the toilet in to the bag.  I haven't done the pick up yet because I'm keeping it a little longer until we can cut down some dead trees in our yard and add them to the bag.

That's the beauty of the bag.  You can keep it as long as you need to and then have them pick it up when you're good and ready.

There's also a debate between Mr. Roar and I between what needs to be thrown out from the basement.  (No, I'm not throwing him out.  I'm just showing you how big the bag is.)  It will hold a LOT of stuff.

And here's the new look of the bathroom.  (FYI - I had a hard time getting great pictures with a tiny room that has no natural light.  Sorry!)

I removed the shelf and painted the room a really pale gray.

I made some fun boy bathroom prints to hang throughout the space.  (More on that HERE.)

We replaced the toilet.

I purchased the shower curtain and towels from Target.  They're an orangish-red that I love.  Rex actually pick out the shower curtain.  He's got good taste :)

Eventually I'd like to frame the mirror, but that's a future project.

There are four prints, but I based them all on things boys tend to love - vikings, pirates, superheroes, and dinosaurs.  I saw some on etsy that were girl ones like "Even princesses have to floss."  However, I couldn't find anything boyish.

Here's a better look at them.  I'll also give you a little more HERE if you're interested in purchasing them.

Thank you to the Bagster bag for helping us make this renovation.

If you missed my first post about the Bagster, you can find it HERE.  It's perfect for home improvements projects where you don't need a full dumpster.  It's $29.95 for the bag and pick up costs very.  (Mine is $79 for example.)  You can find the Bagster bag on their web site HERE, on Facebook HERE, and on Twitter HERE.

Today we are giving away a $100 AmEx gift card, courtesy of Waste Management.  To enter, leave a comment about the Bagster.  For one additional enter you may tweet about the giveaway, using the tag @bagsterbag.  US residents only.  Giveaway ends Tuesday, July 10th.  Be sure to leave a method of contact in case you win.

Thanks for reading.

Waste Management partnered with bloggers such as me to participate in its The Bagster® Bag Blogger Challenge.  As part of this program, I received compensation to cover the cost of the Bagster bag and pick-up as well as my time.  They did not tell me what to purchase or what to say about the products used for the The Bagster® Bag Blogger Challenge. 20. The bagster would be perfect for my home improvement projects, especially since I don't have a large vehicle to haul away big rubbish! Plus, I love Mike, my WM garbage man! He is the friendliest person I've ever met! Our entire city admires him!

  21. I just told my husband that we need to get a bagster after culling our basement storage last weekend. I know most of it can be donated, but I might convince him with a trip out to the barn to look at all our extra storage...

  22. We could definitely use a bagster when we get around to helping my mom clean out her storage units. (yes, plural) I love that it costs you the same no matter how long you keep it, unlike a normal dumpster.

And the bathroom prints are so cool!

  23. I wish our garbage company had a "bagster-esque" option....Sadly, it's not to be...I would put that thing to some SERIOUS use! I love how the boys' bathroom turned out. Great job!!

  31. The Bagster looks far preferable to keeping everything in the garage and slowly throwing it out in our regular weekly trash can, which is something my husband has done. Ironically, I do know that a toilet will fit in our regular trash can!

  32. I just had a new baby and need to move my girls downstairs...but the rooms are full of all the junk we don't want too see upstairs. I could use the bagster. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I have a solution for your mirror! We went so we can't do anything permanent. Washi tape is my secret weapon! Just put some all around the mirror and it will look awesome. I went a little crazy in our kitchen, all the cupboards and draws are done up with chevron tape and ever time we move i get new tapes.

    ReplyDelete
  73. The prints are just too funny! And you're little man does have good taste! He picked out a fun shower curtain.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That bag really is great for small/medium remodel projects! It's such a pain to rent a dumpster and have it sitting in your driveway or yard the whole time, but this is much less conspicuous.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think the Bagster looks like something that I would like to try out

    ReplyDelete
  76. Bagster = Genuis idea!! We have been renovating for 10 months and could have used one of those bags at least a million different times! I am definitely going to investigate.

I have a feeling that between my current craft/guest room (soon to be baby's room), junk in my own room, and our garage, we could probably fill a few of them!

  91. Digging the shower curtain, reminds me of the ones i see in westelm catalog. If I had that bagster, maybe I'd finally clean out my basement once and for all. I think my neighbor had something similar, he offered us to add some of our junk but I didn't have enough time to sort. Good luck on the clean out, let me know who wins the debate over what to throw out, husband vs. wife showdowns are always good.
