Soapbox Saturday - the Bagster® bag

You all know we are big fans of our garbage man, as declared HERE.  Well, I wanted to tell you a little about a great option from Waste Management.  Often with a home improvement project, there's a lot of things to throw away.....dry wall, carpet, etc.  And often, you don't need a full dumpster, but there's no way what you have can fit the stuff into your garbage can even if you jumped on top of it a hundred times.

The cool part?  You can pick up the bag for $29.95 at your local home improvement store whenever you want to.  Here's what to look for in the store.

You fill it when you want and keep it as long as you need.  Then when you're ready to say goodbye you schedule the pick up.  (Yeah, my boys would think that was the coolest thing to watch EVER.)  The pick up costs varies from area to area, but mine is $79, to give you an idea.

The bag is meant to hold a LOT.  In fact, it's meant to hold as much as 3,300 POUNDS of debris!  You  read guidelines on what's allowed in The Bagster® bag and what's not HERE.

So, next month you'll see me use The Bagster® bag as I give the boys' bathroom a makeover.

Thanks for reading.

Disclosure: Waste Management partnered with bloggers such as me to participate in its The Bagster® Bag Blogger Challenge.  As part of this program, I received compensation to cover the cost of the Bagster bag and pick-up as well as my time.  They did not tell me what to purchase or what to say about the products used for the The Bagster® Bag Blogger Challenge. 1. I think that's pretty neat. And I like that you have a relationship with your trash company. Thanks for the info, could have used this when we had to clean out my gparents house.

    1. You could only have used the bag if you have a driveway big enough for them to pick it up. They need 5 feet clearance on each side of the bag. So, don't feel you are missing anything.

  3. Write all the ads you want! I think these are so helpful and I wouldn't have known about half of these cool things if you didn't post about them. I still feel like your blogs is one of the purest, honest, most heart felt blogs out there. Keep doing what you are doing, I'll read your blog forever!

  4. Very timely! Our first bagster bag arrived via Amazon just the other day (cheaper than buying it at the store) and we're planning to start filling it up this weekend!

  8. Ads don't bother me. (still get to read for free) I really enjoy reading your blog. It's the only one I visit faithfully. It still Amazes me that you post seven days a week and even while on vacation. Your hard work is appreciated! God bless you and your adorable family!

  9. Oh how neat! We aren't doing any big projects at the moment, but a few years ago our basement flooded after a HUGE rain- this would have been perfect. We ended up getting a big dumpster and not filling the whole thing. We invited our neighbors to dump what they lost in the flood too. This is great to know about - but really praying it doesn't rain like that again! :P

ps. Ads don't bother me a bit!!

  10. Great solution! Renting dumpsters for home improv. is a pain in the neck and much more expensive than $100. Will be glad to see if this is available in my area. Thanks for the info! LT

  11. I don't think this is an ad. All year long you show us how to make major changes and do projects and this is a really helpful way to get rid of all of the junk that goes along with it. I had actually heard of this before but it was cool to see the truck that will come and get it!!! We will DEFINITELY be using this when we *finally* clean out the garage. To rent a dumpster in our area is like $600 (gasp) so the bag is genius. Thanks for sharing!!! And hope you are having a GREAT time on your trip!!! :)

  14. We saw these and have considered using them on our next project. Can't wait to hear what you think first, cause no one I know has ever used this!!

  15. I had no idea this was available. What a great thing to know about! And I can't wait to see the makeover. We'll be doing a bathroom makeover (hopefully) soon as well, so it'll be fun to see what you do.

    1. i was just thinking that same thing! i didnt want to leave another comment saying the same thing as ten other people. but yes, what a cool idea, and as i have rented one of those huge-remodel-a-house-style dumpsters, this would be WAY easier.

  17. This is awesome info! I'm going to check and see if they are here in my area. I agree with adigallegos, I wish ther was a *like* button for comments! I love your blog!

  18. Yes, keep on giving us the great info. I sure wouldn't find out about all these cool products/ideas without you!

  19. Is it bad that I was like, "Um...I could use one of these just to get rid of all the junk in my house..." Without even needing a huge project...haha. I absolutely love this idea! I hope you have good luck with yours! I think you should make popcorn and let the boys sit out and watch them take it away-haha.

And as far as ads- I say good for you! If you can find a way to get some fun/interesting/compensations/etc. while blogging then go for it! I quit reading a lot of crafting blogs when I got hooked on pinterest- no offense to anyone...it was just too much...but YOURS IS FOREVER! :)

  20. I don't mind the ads, but I wish you would preface the blog post with the disclaimer, instead of putting it at the end. It feels a lot more honest to do it that way--this way seems deceptive.

  21. WELL, I surely hope we will be seeing lots of pix of the boys when they see the trash man taking away the debris from their new bathroom. AND I bet you have a great summer school lesson planned to go with it. You are doing some really great things for your boys and how kind to share them with others.

  22. Don't worry about the negative nancy here complaining about the ad. I guess there are a few who want you to provide fun/creative ideas for their entertainment for free. Wonder, would they work for free?

  23. Please don't be hurt by the less than polite commenters. There are plenty of commenters here that I think did a great job of expressing a negative opinion constructively and respectfully, but there are a few that made me shake my head.

I am well aware when your posts are sponsored because they are pretty clearly linked to your review blog! I enjoyed last week's World Market post more than this one, but only because it's more relevant to me. I think both of these posts are well written, nicely disclosed, and still sound like you. I think that you deserve compensation for your time and creativity, and I certainly can't afford to pay you! Good on your sponsors for doing that for us.

  24. If someone has a problem with the disclaimer not being at the beginning, they oughta just get over it. You can spot an "ad" post a mile away, so if they don't want to read it simply because it was sponsored, then they shouldn't. I think too many people expect everything handed to them free at the expense of others.

Your ad posts are really neat because you're showing us great items you have tried out for yourself... everyday helpful items that a lot of people didn't know about until you said something.

Please keep it up! You don't "owe it to anybody" to cut out the ads. It makes all this worth your time and gives you a way to help others. :)

  25. This is too cool! I'll check, but I'm guessing we don't have this in our area. Bummer. I could definitely have used this during our family room redo. Don't worry about the impolite comments. You are putting out GREAT information! Keep up the good work Cheri!
